We went to this restaurant on our last night in Japan. Unfortunately, for the first time in our 16 day trip we felt that we had been treated differently because we were tourists. We sat at the bar and ordered 3 dishes and 2 glasses of wine. The waitress then brought us what we thought was a complementary starter. We enjoyed the food we had ordered and then asked for the bill. There was an unexpected charge of 900yen. When we queried this, we were told it was because of the extra dish. When we pointed out that we had not ordered the extra dish, she said it was a table charge. We were not at a table and had not been told about this beforehand. It added a significant amount to the bill. We were left feeling disappointed as we had not experienced this in Tokyo or Kyoto. This did not seem to happen to other customers. If you are a tourist, just be aware that this, sadly, may happen to you at this restuarant too.
